The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the global fight fans had expressed its support for the fighter in the following the terrible crash.
