More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," posted Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a distinct piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A court order placed a restriction on the files to restrict the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" associated with the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
After the tragedy, public personalities offered varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing divisive remarks that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the statements as "shocking" and implied they revealed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide could have intervened when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
