Three Game Pass Titles That Will Validate Your Membership This Weekend (Nov. 21-23)

After the recent price increase for Game Pass Ultimate, the earlier commotion has subsided. Although it may not be considered the absolute best offer in gaming anymore, the platform has welcomed a number of high-profile day-one games recently, including Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2. Those additions only enhance a massive collection of hundreds games ideal for weekend gaming binges.

Our current recommendations include a therapeutic action game, an award-winning indie masterpiece, and a must-play HD-2D RPG.

Sniper Elite: Resistance

From time to time, we all require a bit of release. For 20 years, the Sniper Elite franchise has provided exactly that. Rebellion Developments' enduring shooter line presents players intensely graphic mayhem targeting Nazi forces. Recently, the studio launched Sniper Elite: Resistance, a timely new entry to the series. Although it doesn't reinvent the formula, Resistance remains a polished serving of simulation World War II sandboxes packed with Nazi objectives. The long-range combat is as visceral and gratifying as ever, with the series' trademark killcam displaying each shot's impact in graphic, testicle-crunching clarity. It's a violent thrill for every pacifist looking to let off steam in the safety of a digital space.

Resist 1000x

1000xResist tells an critically acclaimed story touching on post-pandemic existence, generational pain, and much more. It examines these subjects through a science fiction perspective; you play as Watcher, a member of multiple clones of Iris, the only survivor of a pandemic that eradicated human life. Watcher and her fellow clones explore Iris's recollections from the time Earth was ravaged by that horrific plague, along with experiences of her education and family life, neither of which were bearable for a young person. Watcher discovers Iris isn't what she appears, and the plot develops from there. If all that mystery isn't enough to grab your interest, the game indeed start with a killing. What could be a more gripping opening than that?

Octopath Traveler 2

Yes, completing a gazillion-hour RPG in just over a week is a challenging task, but if any game worth trying the effort for, it's Octopath Traveler 2. Square Enix's HD-2D gem is leaving Game Pass at the end of November (as is the first game, also available). But, due to a holiday in the middle, at least for players in the States, it's technically achievable. Octopath Traveler 2 follows 8 characters, every one representing a distinct genre. There's a investigative story about a cleric looking into the murder of his church's archbishop. A trader striving to eradicate poverty through the power of commerce headlines a western-themed adventure. Additionally, there's a enigma about an apothecary with memory loss (since all great RPGs need a hero with an unknown background, naturally). A few of these plots connect in unexpected, fascinating ways, while you progress through a gorgeous Industrial Revolution inspired world. And the combat is excellent — “number go up” boiled to its essence.
