The Trail Blazers additionally won their initial match after the arrests, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the team to a convincing 139 to 119 victory over the Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Chauncey and his coaching style," Splitter remarked. "Our thoughts are with him and his family but we have a job to do."

League Commissioner Adam Silver 'Upset' over Arrests

Speaking about the detentions for the initial occasion, league head Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the recent days.

"There's nothing more important to the NBA and its fans than the fairness of the competition," he told a broadcaster. "And so I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

Silver also said an NBA investigation into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he participated for the Charlotte Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the gambling firms," he added.

"We then looked into that situation and were very transparent about it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"The federal government has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can take various actions that the league office can't do.

"So, we've been working with them from that point. Naturally, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.

"And 30 months later, he still hasn't been convicted of anything, in justice to Rozier.
