News has broken that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their cameos will likely occur in a future-set scene, given that the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.
This signifies the sixth film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
