Brian Eno Calls On Public Help to Send Together for Palestine Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The effort hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The diverse array of artists contributing to Lullaby includes a range of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The single blends a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The team running the project have clarified that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a few million won't make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving that another narrative exists.”

The track is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
