Britain's Katie Boulter says she feels she has to "pick between my physical condition and my ranking" as the scramble persists for a spot in the upcoming January Australian Open main event.
While the regular WTA Tour season is completed, there are still standing points to be gained in Latin American countries, Argentina, multiple sites and international tournaments.
The women's competitor lineup for the initial Grand Slam of the forthcoming season will be determined by the world rankings of 8 December, which could cause a difficult choice for athletes near the selection threshold.
Ex- British leading competitor Boulter suffered an hip muscle in her last tournament of the year in international locations last period, and is now evaluating whether to play in the WTA 125 secondary tournament in French locations, the European nation, in the first week of December.
Boulter's ongoing health concern, and the situation she would need to achieve at least three matches in the French tournament to enhance her ranking, means she may probably eventually not competing.
In comparison, male athletes are not experiencing the equivalent dilemma, as for the initial instance the male Australian Open participant roster will be established from present week's standings, which is the ATP's formal season-concluding ranking date.
The change is designed to preventing athletes from chasing standing points during what is fundamentally the off-season.
This year has been a difficult one for Boulter.
She secured just 14 elite primary competition contests and currently parted ways with instructor Biljana Veselinovic after a extended collaboration in which she captured multiple WTA championships.
"Biljana is an exceptional instructor, and an extremely quality human as well, which produces circumstances particularly challenging," Boulter stated.
The quest for a replacement trainer is currently ongoing, seeking an individual who has high-level background as Boulter maintains the belief she can be a world-class competitor.
"Progressing with a replacement instructor, an important factor I'm absolutely certain on is that they are going to be a professional who has extensive experience in how to advance to the highest echelon of this profession," she stated.
"I've been positioned as advanced as 23 and I am confident I can get back to that level. I am not convinced my performance has diminished, I think the reliability must improve.
"My objective is not simply to be placed 50, forty, 30, twenty - we've been there. The aim is to be within the top twenty."
